‘TRANSFORM & TREKKING’

EVEREST BASE CAMP - YOGA, REIKI & SOUND RETREAT 2021

“It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves” Edmund Hillary

We are beyond excited to re-walk our steps and offer this retreat as a personal transformational journey combined with yoga, sound healing and reiki as we climb up to 5380metres and trek 130km through lush forest, past raging waters, unexpected sandy paths and staggering rocky terrain. Choosing to complete the journey to Everest Base Camp in 2018 was one of the best decisions of our lives - It was so empowering and offered a whole new perspective on life which has enriched and inspired us from within to lead a much simpler, happier and healthier life.

YOUR GUIDE

GELE

We are very privileged that Gele has agreed to lead us back up to Everest Base Camp. Gele grew up in the foothills of the Everest range and when Edmund Hillary visited his village he was inspired to become a mountain guide.

With a love for nature and the outdoors Gele has been walking these paths for over 20 years as a guide and what he doesn’t know about these trails isn’t worth knowing! Gele spent many years working for Exodus and won highly commended guide in 2016 however the time came for him to offer his own treks in his own way.

James and I were lucky to be guided by Gele in September 2018 and it was clear how popular he was to other guides and to locals. He is also trained in Altitude first aid which made us feel very safe and in good hands.

You will have the support and care along the way from Gele and also learn a lot about Nepal’s history, the earth quake, political regime, religion, culture and food. We were also very impressed that Gele uses local people’s tea houses for accommodation and porters for carrying luggage rather than animals which creates job opportunities for the locals and people further afield - he also mentors the porters and has a training programme to help them become guides when they have enough experience.

We inherited a new perspective, incredible memories and a friend for life - I hope you will too.

REIKI

Dynamic Yoga is a creative form of yoga where the poses build strength, lengthen the spine and bring awareness to the breath which will energise the body and mind, preparing us for our day ahead.

Yin Yoga  is a slow and soft style of yoga which allows you to stretch and nourish the deeper connective tissues such as ligaments, bones and joints which are harder to target in more dynamic (yang) styles of yoga. The practice will be based on the Chinese meridian system where there will be a focus on organ health and the energetic body to bring balance physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. The practice will be accompanied by our Nepalese singing bowls so that the sound and vibrations will enter your body at a cellular level to calm your body and mind and promote healing

Singing Bowls and Gongs helps the body generate a positive flow of energy and offers vibrations on a cellular level into the body which stimulates the blood vessels, lymph, nerves, veins and muscles to open up blockages and loosening tension in the body, relaxing the body and releasing pain. They can helps with stress, depression, insomnia, menstrual pain, ear problems, sinusitis etc and offer a sense of peace and calm.

Chakra Balancing involves the bowls being placed around the body and played in a particular sequence to naturally cause chakras to self-correct. The sound waves, run through the body correcting frequencies to the unbalanced chakras, bringing them back to normal functioning. Chakra balancing can be deeply relaxing and helps with many modern-day issues like stress, insomnia and offering the opportunity to take some much-needed time out to rebalance your energies.

Reiki is the Japanese word for universal life force. By channelling energy from the universe (generally through the hands), It can be a deep relaxation technique that reduces stress and promotes healing. Reiki re-activates the body’s natural energy system, bringing you back into balance on every level, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Reiki Drumming for healing and meditation is an ancient practice and goes back thousands of years, the power of sound over the body and spirit is well known in tribal cultures. Scientific research confirms that drumming (even for short periods) can influence brain activity, bringing you into the meditative alpha state and can reduce stress. Study also shows that drumming can increase the production of the body’s natural painkillers and can therefore help control pain and enhance healing.

YIN YOGA

NATALIE BRADSHAW

Yoga has changed my life. For years I have suffered with Adrenal Fatigue and positive RO antibody which is an autoimmune disease.

That combined with being a workaholic in the corporate world often meant doing 13-hour days. I used all my energy up at work that I often had nothing left for me.

I was regularly bed bound on evenings and weekends and dependent on coffee to get me from A to B, but the direct result of this was insomnia and I was in a vicious circle.

I had dipped in and out of yoga for 15 years however as my physical and mental health was deteriorating I became more and more interested in how to heal myself so I started to develop a regular yoga practice and invite holistic healing into my life.

Within weeks my life started to dramatically change. I knew very quickly that I wanted to learn more and I wanted to help other people so I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher certification.

But it hasn’t stopped there… I have continued to learn and specialise in other aspects of Yoga and Healing and I believe I will always be a student craving to learn more so that I can share with you lovely people.

REIKI & SOUND

JAMES BRADSHAW

Working in the fire and rescue service was my dream job and after making the difficult decision to leave after 12 years service I lost my way a little.

I missed helping other people and felt something was missing. I proceeded to spend another 12 years building up my own renovations and maintenance company and whilst really enjoying meeting new people and the practical side of working with my hands and being creative I still felt I had more to offer.

I started going to yoga classes to help with a back injury and saw that a Reiki Level 1 course was happening so I signed up. It was very powerful and I had a real connection with the energy.

I found it very calming and I very quickly received feedback on how I had helped others with personal issues or physical ailments.

I then studied and completed Reiki 2, further progressing to Reiki Drumming and Reiki Mastership. I am now also a singing bowl therapy practitioner and perform gong baths.

Working with energy and sound is fascinating and I love seeing the impact it can have on peoples lives.

DYNAMIC YOGA

JESSI REST

For me - Yoga can restore confidence, lightness and a sense of freedom Touched by Ashtanga Yoga more than 10 years ago, Jessica was always supported by this practice during changes and trials of her life.

By realising the stability brought by Yoga, Jessica decided to go further her learning. Thirsty for knowledge, she's constantly inspired and has trained with traditional masters and teachers including Paul Dallaghan who certifed her.

Jessi has continued her learning with world renowned David Swenson, Maty Ezraty and Richard Freeman which enables her to create transformational Ashtanga, Iyenger and Vinyassa sequences that cultivate curiosity, sensitivity and humour to raise the level of awareness.

She focuses on the understanding of practice rather than the number of postures and uses Yoga as a tool to feel the subtleties of the physical and energetical bodies.

Jessi has studied Pranayama (the power of breath) in India which will be an invaluable tool on our journey to altitude.
