Glastonbury Festival with Brass Monkey at The Pop Up Hotel

Only a week ago, we brought our time at the Pop Up Hotel with Brass Monkey to a close after offering Breath and Ice Experiences to the Glastonbury Festival-Goers in their new Duo Plunge Trailer - it was so much fun and really cool to guide couples and friends to breathe and dip together at 0.5degrees! It was amazing to see some familiar faces of people who have already been to our Wim Hof Method Fundamentals Workshops and get to know some gorgeous new souls who we hope we will meet again!

But why was the Breath and Ice so popular for the Festival-Goers?

  1. Really Fun Exhilarating Activity:

It was such a fun and ‘different’ activity to do with friends and family at Glastonbury. The vibe was so high with cheering, words of support, clapping etc not only from their group but passers by as people took the challenge of the Brass Monkey! It became a domino effect, particularly on Saturday where we didn’t stop and Dj’s or Ellie Sax started to play by the pool which was in view from our spot!

  2. Reduced Inflammation and Soothing Sore Feet:

Some of the guys step counters read 30k steps! With long days of walking, dancing, and standing - an ice bath was just the ticket to reduce muscle soreness and inflammation. The cold temperature constricts blood vessels, reducing blood flow to muscles, which can help in lowering swelling and muscle fatigue so they could re-set and do it all again!

  3. Hangover Cure!:

Well its no secret that there are extra curricular activities at Glastonbury and I can category say that everyone who came to us feeling ropey, hungover and unable to fathom another long night ahead, felt amazing after their Breath and Ice session - you could see the difference immediately! BEST HANGOVER CURE!

  4. Refreshing and Energizing:

Many festival-goers were short on sleep due to late nights - as its should be! The calming breath technique to down regulate and calm the nervous system plus the cold shock from an ice bath can be invigorating, giving you a burst of energy. Everyone who dipped said they felt a surge of new energy and were so grateful for what we called ‘a pick me up!’

  5. Mental Benefits:

Cold exposure can have mental benefits, such as improving mood and reducing stress. The experience of an ice bath can trigger the release of endorphins, which are chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers and mood elevators. Just what the doctor ordered for this festival!

Not only were we offering experiences, but we were able to enjoy the festivities including a Michelin star Feast by Chef Rohitghai, music by Grace Carter, Ellie Sax, Various DJ’s, Contrast Therapy by The Wandering Spa and so much more… Can we do it all again next year?
